False police case registered
Comrade Hameed Chanah, provincial organiser Progressive Workers Federation of Pakistan Sindh province is under attack and facing severe hardships as the result. His only crime is that he dared to organise the resistance and challenged the domination and hegemony of the local feudal lords and corrupt state officials. He has been targeted because he is playing leading role to organise the workers, peasants and females in his area called Mir Pur Khas in Sindh province.
All this started when his house was robbed by the criminal gang last month. The robbers entered his house late night when the whole family was sleeping at the rooftop of the house. The robbers took away everything including laptop, camera, cash, gold ornaments and even clothes. The family was left literally with nothing. They traced the robbers with the help of sniffing dogs. When the police went to arrest the robbers they attacked Hameed Chanah in police presence and injured him. The police finally arrested the robbers and send them to prison. But police failed to recover the looted goods.
Socialist Movement and PWF organised protest demonstration in more than 8 cities of Sindh province and got tremendous coverage in the media. These protest demonstrations put pressure on the police and local judiciary to take action. One of the robbers is the local office bearer and activist of the religious organisation called Sunni Tehrik (ST). The local leaders of this religious organisation met Hameed Chanah and tried to persuade him to drop charges against their member. Another accused who tortured Hameed Chanah is a police constable and working as a body guard for a local judge. Now all these accused has been freed on bail roaming around freely.
Later, the mother of the main accused approaches the senior local judge for the registration of a criminal case against Hammed Chanah and the police officials. She has alleged that Hameed Chanah and five policemen entered her house and took away cash and gold jewelry worth thousands of rupees. The judge ordered the police to register criminal case against Hameed Chanah and five police men. The police have registered the case and now Hameed Chanah has been forced to get bail from the court to avoid the possible arrest.
The investigation officer is now asking money to clear Hameed Chanah from this false case. Hameed Chanah lost everything in the robbery and now he faced possible arrest because he tried to get justice for himself from a unjust and rotten system. This is just one case out of the thousands that occurred every day in Pakistan where working masses can not get justice from an utterly corrupt, repressive and unjust system. Being a poor is a crime in this rotten capitalist and feudal system. Every effort to demoralize the organisation and destroy the tremendous work done by the comrades has so far been failed. Comrades have been able to keep the red flag flying high.
It seems that the criminal gang has the support and blessing of the influential local feudal lords and corrupt bureaucrats. They are gang up to silence the loud voice of the working masses in this whole area.
